Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter is quickly becoming one of the most recognizable college football players in the country. It's rare to have a two-way player excel on both sides of the ball at a high level, but that is exactly what Hunter provides on a weekly basis.

Despite playing nearly every defensive snap for Colorado this season, the junior sits fifth in the country in receiving yards (561), third in receptions (46) and third in receiving touchdowns (6) through five weeks. Hunter also has two interceptions, 15 tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble at cornerback for the 4-1 Buffaloes.

Hunter is at the top of the list in terms of the Heisman Trophy conversation thus far. He is also in the running for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. considers Hunter to be the best overall prospect in the country, ranking him No. 1 in his latest big board for next year's draft.

Prospects don't get the luxury of picking where they land at the next level. But for Hunter, he wishes to be back in Colorado and play for the Broncos when he does decide to take the next step.

“I never feel uncomfortable or not safe,” he said on his "Kickin' It With Dee" guesting. ”I wish I could go to the Broncos just to stay in Colorado because so much people just welcomed us with open arms, and they showed us love that we wouldn’t have gotten in a different spot.”

The West Palm Beach, Florida native revealed that his neighbors in Boulder, Colorado, put up signs every week that encourage him ahead of game day. He also said that they routinely watch his dog when Colorado makes road trips.

The NFL draft is on the back burner for now, but it is clear that Hunter feels comfortable where his feet are, even with the fame he has garnered in his collegiate career. Hunter and the Buffaloes are off this week before taking on No. 20 Kansas State (4-1) in Boulder on Oct. 12. Kickoff is set for 10:15 p.m. ET (ESPN).
