Pete Alonso sent the New York Mets soaring past the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the two teams' Wild Card series in Wisconsin on Thursday with a clutch three-run home run off of Devin Williams in the ninth inning.

Alonso's blast gave New York a 4-2 lead they would never relinquish and a series-clinching win, eventually leading to celebrations the locker room and leaving the Mets' latest playoff hero at a loss for words.

"Words can't explain. Words can't explain," Alonso said according to The New York Times. "I'm just so excited right now."

Manager Carlos Mendoza's team now has a quick turnaround to prepare to face a familiar foe, the Philadelphia Phillies, at 4:08 p.m. ET on Saturday.

The five-game National League Division Series includes a possible three games in Philadelphia and two at Citi Field, home of the Mets. The Mets are underdogs for Game 1, but they appear to have something special that Mendoza vocalized in his postgame comments to the media.

"I keep saying it, man. We continue to believe," Mendoza said after the Mets' Thursday win. "We've been punched and knocked down, and we continue to find ways to get back up."

"Blown away," Mets owner Steve Cohen said following the game. "How this keeps happening, I'll never know. But it's the greatest thing I've ever seen."
