Caitlin Clark blazed quite a trail during her time in the NCAA. The fact that she holds the all-time record for the most points scored in the NCAA is an undeniable testament to this fact.

As such, it only follows that whoever she passed the torch to now that Clark has turned pro has some enormously big shoes to fill. One player who many fans believe has taken on the mantle, so to speak, is JuJu Watkins.

For her part, however, the USC star has made it clear that she doesn't really feel the weight of the world on her shoulders, particularly when it comes to living up to Caitlin Clark's extremely high standards.

The Southern California sophomore was recently asked to share her thoughts on being the new standard bearer for women's college basketball in the post-Clark era. According to Watkins, she's focused on something else entirely.

“I wouldn’t really say pressure,” she said at the Big Ten media day on Wednesday, via Andrew Seligman of the Associated Press . “So many great teams in this league, and I think my main focus is just winning with my team. And wherever that takes us, we’re grateful. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”

It's not as if Watkins is shying away from the pressure. After all, she is widely considered one of, if not the best player in the NCAA this coming season.

However, what's more important for the 19-year-old is doing whatever she can to help her team win. Last season, she led the Trojans all the way to the Elite Eight behind a record-breaking campaign that saw her set the all-time record for most points scored by a freshman in NCAA Division I history (920).

That was just Year 1 for Watkins, and she's going to be back for more once the new NCAA season begins.
