Bucs Need 3 Dirty Words To Describe OT Loss

How many different nasty ways can Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs employ to describe his team's distaste in their 36-30 "Thursday Night Football'' loss at the Atlanta Falcons in OT?

The Bucs blew this game - a chance to grab hold of the inside track in the NFC South - in so many ways that some might be rendered speechless. But we'll leave it to Wirfs to frame it all. ... with three words.

He went with "sucks.'' And "pissed.'' And the grossest of all, "s****ed'' ... as in ... "down our leg.

Indeed, the Bucs has this thing in their grasp when linebacker Lavonte David intercepted a pass from Kirk Cousins - on a night during which he would complete 42 of 58 passes for 509 yards, with four TDs and the pick - with inside of two minutes left in regulation.

Tampa Bay was up by three points at that point. The Bucs needed one play. One first down. But they failed to convert ... and then the Falcons forced overtime on Younghoe Koo's 52-yard field goal.

Then in overtime, Cousins kept piling on the numbers, finally with a hookup with KhaDarel Hodge for a game-winning 45-yard touchdown pass.

The Bucs offense, led by QB Baker Mayfield, did plenty of things right. He threw three TD passes , two to Mike Evans (who reached the 100-touchdown mark for his fine career). And Tampa Bay’s ground gain averaged 6.2 yards per carry.

But the Bucs fall to 3-2, matching the Falcons ... because they couldn't make one more play.
