The Tampa Bay Buccaneers headed to Atlanta for their first divisional matchup of the season against the Falcons. ... and in a "Thursday Night Football'' thriller lost, 36-30 in OT.

From the Bucs perspective, there is plenty of blame to go around ... and plenty of reasons to be "pissed,'' as detailed here .

And from a Falcons perspective? Hey, we know that Tampa Bay has long ruled the NFC South and that Atlanta has been a have-not ... but the Falcons' postgame celebration - keyed by QB Kirk Cousins' trademark "You like that?'' cheer - creates the impression that they fail to realize they are simply 3-2 and tied with the Bucs for first place in the division ...

And that they did not just win the Super Bowl. Watch the video and see if you don't agree that the Falcons aren't exactly from the school of thought that suggest you "act like you've been here before.'' ...

In the end, Tampa Bay couldn't stop Cousins. To his credit, Cousins finished the night 42 of 58 passing totaling a career-best 509 passing yards with four touchdowns ... oh, and with 253 yards passing in the first half and 256 in the second half, Cousins becomes the only quarterback in the Super Bowl era to throw for 250-plus yards both before and after halftime ... meaning coach Todd Bowles' club didn't exactly make those ballyhooed "halftime adjustments.''

How did we get here? A live chronological look ...

The Bucs head into Week 5 as NFC South leaders at 3-1 with wins over Washington, Detroit and Philadelphia and the lone loss to Denver. Meanwhile, the Falcons are 2-2 with wins over the Eagles and Saints and losses to Pittsburgh and Kansas City.

Tampa Bay comes into the game on fire offensively averaging 24.3 yards per game while the defense is letting the Bucs' opponents score an average of 19.5 points per contest. The Falcons offense is scoring 18.8 points per tilt while their defense is allowing 21.3.

It'll be a contest between two veteran signal callers in Baker Mayfield and Kirk Cousins.

The Bucs' Mayfield is completing 70.5 percent of his passes with 984 yards, eight touchdowns and two picks across four games of action, while Cousins has struggled early this season completing just 64.7 percent of his throws for 864 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.

Rookie running back Bucky Irving has re-energized the Bucs running game and leads the team with 203 yards on 35 carries with one touchdown and two runs of 20-plus yards already this season.

Former Longhorns rusher Bijan Robinson leads all Falcons on the ground with 224 yards on 55 carries for an average of 4.1 yards per carry.

With a win, the Buccaneers can extend their lead in the division to two games over the preseason favorite Falcons, while Atlanta can tie the Bucs for the South lead early in the season.

Live game updates will appear here after kickoff...

FIRST QUARTER: Bucs 10, Falcons 7

The Falcons take the opening drive down the field and march 70 yards in seven plays. The scoring drive results in an 18-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Drake London for a 7-0 lead over the Bucs.

The Bucs answered with their own scoring drive on their initial possession of the game with a 63-yard, nine-play scoring drive that finished with a two-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Mike Evans to tie the game at 7 with 7:36 left in the first quarter.

The Falcons missed an opportunity to take the lead on the next possession when Younghoe Koo missed a 41-yard field goal attempt wide left that gave the Bucs back the ball at their own 23-yard line.

The Falcons converted that turnover on downs into three points with a 53-yard field goal by Chase McLaughlin for a 10-7 lead with just 1:22 left in the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER: Bucs 24, Falcons 17

The Falcons took the lead back early in the second quarter on a 70-yard, nine-play drive that finished with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Cousins to Darnell Mooney for a 14-10 Bucs deficit.

The Bucs answered a minute and a half later with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Mayfield to Evans - his second of the game - to give Tampa Bay a 17-14 lead. That ended a three-play, 44-yard drive that was set up by a 53-yard kickoff return.

Atlanta tied the game midway through the second half with a 54-yard field goal by Koo.

Mayfield and the Bucs drove the field and scored again with under two minutes left in the half on a four-yard touchdown pass from Baker to Sterling Sheppard for a 24-17 lead with just 1:56 left in the half. The scoring play was set up by a Rachaad White 56-yard run that took the team from the Tampa Bay 29 to the Atlanta 15-yard line.

THIRD QUARTER: Bucs 27, Falcons 20

Atlanta scored first in the second half on a 48-yard Koo field goal five minutes into the frame that closed the Bucs lead to 24-20.

With less than two minutes remaining in the third quarter, McLaughlin matched the three points with a 32-yard field goal to push the Bucs lead back to seven at 27-20.

FOURTH QUARTER: Bucs 30, Falcons 30

The Falcons tied the game again with another touchdown pass from Cousins to Mooney - their second scoring connection of the game - for a 12-yard touchdown pass tie the game at 27 all.

On the ensuing possession, the Bucs took the lead again on a 53-yard McLaughlin field goal that made the score 30-27 Bucs with 10:23 left in the fourth quarter.

With 6:37 left in the game, the Falcons couldn't cash in on a couple of chances. Mooney dropped a 35-yard pass on 3rd and 6 where the defender fell down and he was all alone and would've walked into the end zone. Then on the ensuing 54-yard field goal attempt the Bucs blocked Koo's 54-yarder to turn the ball over on downs at the Tampa Bay 44.

The Falcons' fortunes changed when Bucs running back Bucky Irving fumbled the ball at the Atlanta 25-yard line to be recovered by Falcons safety Jessie Bates with 2:55 left in the fourth quarter.

But Bucs' linebacker Lavonte David saved the day when, on a 4th and 15 from the Atlanta 20, he intercepted Cousins to give Tampa Bay back the ball with under two minutes left in the game and with a short field.

The Bucs ran the ball as the Falcons burned timeouts until Tampa Bay had to punt the ball back to Atlanta, who took possession at their own 20-yard line with 1:14 left and no timeouts.

Cousins led the drive to the Tampa Bay 29-yard line to set up a game-tying field goal by Koo. There was a delay of game penalty that moved the ball back five yards to the Tampa Bay 34 with just two seconds left in regulation.

Koo is good from 54 yards to tie the game at 30 as time expires. We're going to overtime.

    OVERTIME: Bucs 30, Falcons 30

The Falcons get the ball first in overtime.

The Falcons score a touchdown in overtime to win the game on a 45-yard touchdown pass to wideout KhaDarel Hodge.

    FINAL: Falcons 36, Bucs 30
