    Did Jets 'Fail' Sam Darnold?

The New York Jets will travel to London for a significant matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday morning.

Not only will the game be meaningful because the Jets are looking to get their season back on track after a disappointing Week 4 loss, but it will also be notable because they will be facing their former starting quarterback, Sam Darnold.

Darnold spent the first three years of his career with the Jets, after they selected him with the second-overall pick in the 2020 draft. He struggled to perform up to expectations in his time with New York, as he finished with a 13-25 record, and was eventually traded to the Carolina Panthers.

Now, in his seventh season, and first with the Vikings, Minnesota is undefeated and Darnold is an early MVP candidate. Yes, really.

Heading into the matchup, his first time starting against the Jets - now led of course by QB Aaron Rodgerts - Darnold was asked if New York "failed" him in his time there.

"No, I think I had a lot of opportunities in New York, and I always felt like I could've played better there," said Darnold.

In his three seasons in New York, Darnold totaled 8,097 passing yards, 45 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. The Jets also failed to have a winning season with Darnold.

Through four games in Minnesota, Darnold has 932 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns and just three interceptions.

Regardless of who Darnold truly blames for his failed tenure with his Jets, a win against his former team would likely be pretty satisfying.
