Donte DiVincenzo Reciprocates Love for New York

    By Lance Roberson,

Donte DiVincenzo played with four teams in his first six NBA seasons. Despite winning an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Villanova alum received his highest praise and fanfare as a member of the New York Knicks. Although the Knicks traded DiVincenzo to the Minnesota Timberwolves, he shared his appreciation for the city that celebrated him the most.

"Thank you, fans! Thank you for one of the best years of my life. The energy, the love, the tenacity, and the fun we had. It was just one season, but one for the record books," DiVincenzo said publicly. "Thanks for briefly letting me into your storied legacy and in your legendary family. Until next time..."

In one season for the Knicks, he averaged a career-high 15.5 points, converting 40 percent from his 3-point line on 8.7 attempts per game. Without DiVincenzo, Jalen Brunson likely wouldn't have succeeded at an All-NBA level. DiVincenzo provided Brunson space to operate in the paint and the mid-range.

Although the Knicks had a few capable shooters, none could make opposing defenses suffer like the 2021 NBA champion, regarding the 3-point shot, or have the gall to attempt as many 3s as DiVincenzo.

Regarding tenacity, as DiVincenzo mentioned in his thank-you letter to the New York fans, he displayed boldness, which the Empire State embodies, during the 2024 postseason.

DiVincenzo converted a game-winning 3-point shot in Game 2, the opening round of the 2024 playoffs, against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Despite DiVincenzo's short tenure in New York, the fans understand what He meant to the team and its success. Thankfully, New York fans will only have to feel his wrath twice a season unless the Knicks and Timberwolves make the NBA Finals.
