The Washington Commanders are sitting comfortably at 3-1 as they prepare to take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been the driving force behind Washington’s early success, impressing fans and analysts alike.

His dynamic play , including an NFL-leading 82.1 percent completion rate, has some people questioning whether Daniels deserves a spot in the MVP conversation. However, not everyone is convinced, including former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky.

The former quarterback, famous for running out of the back of the end zone for a safety while playing for the Detroit Lions in 2008, has shared his opinion on whether or not Daniels deserves to even be in the conversation for MVP. One thing can be guaranteed when it comes to Orlovsky MVP takes: Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is always in the conversation.

During a recent episode of First Take , Orlovsky expressed skepticism about Daniels' MVP chances.

“Top three would be Justin Jefferson one, Sam Darnold two, and probably Josh Allen three,” Orlovsky said as host Stephen A. Smith looked on in disbelief.

When Smith said directly, “The question was, is it an overreaction to have Daniels in the MVP conversation.”

    Orlovsky quickly responded. “Yes, yes!”

The exchange became heated as Stephen A. Smith challenged Orlovsky's stance.

“That’s not an overreaction. He’s in the conversation!” Smith argued.

Smith emphasized Daniels' incredible rookie performance: “If this was somebody else, you would point out 82.1 percent completion percentage, and you would say a rookie doing that is extraordinary.”

Orlovsky remained unconvinced, stating: “Beat a good team with a good defense, and then he’s going to get into that conversation.”

Daniels' stats back up the excitement surrounding him . He has thrown for 897 yards, three touchdowns, and only one interception while also rushing for 218 yards and four touchdowns. His Week 3 performance included a record-setting 91.3 percent completion rate for a rookie in a single game, earning him NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

As Orlovsky pointed out, Daniels has yet to face a top-tier defense, and his Week 5 test against the Cleveland Browns could be pivotal. Whether it proves he belongs in the MVP conversation is irrelevant at this point when you look at the rookie's production through the first four weeks.
