Indiana Fever's Front Office Shakeup Sparks Questions About Christie Sides' Future

The Indiana Fever made a major front office move on Friday, announcing the hire of Amber Cox as Chief Operating Officer and General Manager.

Cox takes over the position previously held by Lin Dunn, who now moves into a new role as Senior Advisor for the organization.

Cox most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of the Dallas Wings. From 2016-21, she was Vice President for Sports for the Connecticut Sun. She began her career with the Phoenix Mercury, ultimately working her way up to President and Chief Operating Officer.

“I am excited to be joining the Fever during this historic time in the WNBA, and I am grateful to Kelly, Fever ownership, and Mel Raines for this opportunity,” Cox said in a statement. “From the top down, there is a commitment to invest in the Fever to ensure the team’s continued growth and success, and I look forward to contributing to a world-class experience for our fans, as well as our players, both on and off the court.”

The move has sparked some questions about the future of Fever head coach Christie Sides.

"Christie Sides, enjoy cancun," another wrote.

Sides faced criticism from a significant portion of Indiana Fever fans throughout the 2024 WNBA season. While the Fever ultimately made a push to the playoffs, many felt the team didn't reach its full potential with No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark.

Under new front office leadership, the Fever will look to reach that potential in the 2025 WNBA season.
