The Indianapolis Colts are facing an unconventional backfield situation heading into Sunday’s game, with star running back Jonathan Taylor ruled out due to an ankle injury and quarterback Anthony Richardson still questionable with a hip issue.

If Richardson is unable to play, veteran Joe Flacco is poised to step in as the starter after taking the majority of snaps last week. Meanwhile, former Ohio State standout Trey Sermon , who has been backing up Taylor, is set to start at running back, alongside Tyler Goodson , who is also active for the game.

When the media asked Sermon about his readiness to start, both he and Goodson made it clear that they are fully prepared for the challenge.

Goodson declared, "TELL THEM BOYS, TREY, WE READY!"

Sermon replied, "I'm very prepared. Like Tyler said, we’re ready. We’re here for a reason... We believe in ourselves..."

Sermon spent his first three collegiate years as an Oklahoma Sooner before transferring to Ohio State for his final season. He was drafted 88th overall by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 NFL Draft.

During his time at Oklahoma, he totaled 339 carries for 2,076 rushing yards, averaging an impressive 6.1 yards per carry and scoring 22 touchdowns.

In his final year with Ohio State, he excelled even further, averaging over seven yards per carry and totaling 870 yards, four touchdowns, and 108.8 yards per game.

One of his standout performances came in the Big Ten Championship, where Sermon racked up 331 yards against the Northwestern Wildcats , marking one of the most historic single-game performances in the program's history.

Now, he’s set to showcase his talents not far from Columbus with the Indianapolis Colts.
