Week 6 of the 2024 college football season saw a big upset on Friday night as the TCU Horned Frogs, led by head coach Sonny Dykes, were defeated by the Houston Cougars 30-19.

TCU went into the game as a 16.5-point favorite (ESPN Bet), but Houston looked like the better team in nearly every aspect of the game.

The Horned Frogs were absolutely dominated on the ground, only recording 66 total rushing yards compared to the Cougars' 208. TCU also committed four turnovers and didn't force any from Houston.

Dykes is in his third season with TCU. Despite the major success he saw in 2022, leading the Horned Frogs to a Big 12 championship and national championship appearance, many have grown frustrated with what Dykes has put onto the field recently.

After going 13-2 in his first season, Dykes saw his team's record take a big hit in 2023, finishing the season 5-7 and failing to make a bowl game. After starting this season 2-0, TCU has dropped three of its last four games, falling to 3-3.

Many fans took to social media to call for the firing of Coach Dykes after Friday night's upset.

"Please fire Sonny Dykes," one fan said.

"Sonny Dykes needs to be fired immediately! Absolute joke of a head coach"

"Sonny Dykes better go ahead and update the resume and LinkedIn…."

"Sonny Dykes: Welcome to the Hot Seat"

    "FIRE SONNY DYKES TONIGHT"

"Sonny dykes needs to be fired honestly...his time at TCU has come to an end"

Prior to the loss against Houston, Dykes' defense has been one of the worst in all of college football. They ranked toward the bottom in points per game allowed (31.0) and allowed 174.8 rushing yards per game, which will increase following Houston's performance.

The Horned Frogs also averaged only 101 rushing yards per game. Their saving grace on offense is their pass game, ranking top-five nationally with 364.8 passing yards/game.

TCU will have a bye in Week 7 and will face its first ranked opponent of the season the following week as they travel north to battle the No. 18 Utah Utes on Oct. 19.

I don't get it, just 2 years ago he had a decent TCU in the national title game, so now he's trash if you listen to the fans. What do fans think, that's not a top tier program that top coaches are running to get or want. I guess you may get a top tier coach from The FCS and that person will not be there long because if they do well a bigger more money program will just pull up the Brinks truck and get him, my advice to TCU is always know your program is a stepping stone and if you get a coach who wins 7 or 8 games a year just be grateful because the B12 is getting harder, I hear Clemson, Memphis, and Florida St. are trying to join it. So good luck trying to get a big name coach to take that job because your program is considered the 9 or 10 ranked program in the big 12

A 6 win career average minus the miracle season, it's time to rebuild the staff and it might be worth talking about the AD as well, since he was the one to fire Gary Patterson and hire Dykes. They made such a big deal with this hiring that the school sold their soul for that Fiesta Bowl win.
