Rece Davis and the "College GameDay" crew were in Berkeley, California, on Saturday, previewing the Week 6 college football schedule.

Davis welcomed fans to the show, introducing the "College GameDay" panel with Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit.

Missing from the crew was “College GameDay” icon Lee Corso. Davis explained that the 89-year-old analyst missed the show because he was feeling a “little bit under the weather.”

Corso is in his 38th season with “College GameDay," a staple on the show since its inception in 1987.

Given Corso’s absence and the bond he has created with Davis, the host sent a kind note to Corso, wishing him a speedy recovery and mentioning that he’ll be back soon.

“Lee Corso, a little bit under the weather,” Davis said. “We expect to get him back soon. I know LC is watching. Speedy recovery, my friend. You’ll be back at it soon.”

Corso started his journey on "College GameDay" in 1987 and has since become one of the biggest names in college football media.

Prior to his time as an analyst, Corso was a quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles from 1953-57. He then had a lengthy coaching career, beginning his time on the sideline at FSU, where he was a graduate assistant in 1958.

Corso went on to become a quarterbacks coach at Maryland from 1959-65 and would eventually take his talents around the country, serving as a member of the coaching staff at Navy, Louisville, Indiana and Northern Illinois.

The 89-year-old has certainly enjoyed a historic college football career as a player, coach and analyst, but health concerns have recently limited Corso’s availability.

He missed time last season due to a "health issue," but Davis has always been quick to tell fans that he's in good spirits, much like he did in Week 6 in the wake of Corso's absence.
