In 2018, LeBron James set the basketball world ablaze by signing a long-term deal with the Los Angeles Lakers . Fast forward to 2024, and he's still with the team, yet speculation has persisted about his reasons for that decision.

On Saturday, James addressed those rumors, offering an in-depth explanation of why he chose the Lakers during his free agency.

Speculation arose when reports suggested that LeBron's decision to join the Lakers was influenced by how the franchise handled Kobe Bryant's final seasons. However, James was quick to refute those claims, clarifying his true motivations behind the move.

"I came to the Lakers cause I wanted to help Jeanie win championships, bring that Spark back to the Lakers and see my family blossom in SoCal. Why would I make a decision on how someone else is treated. Mama always said “Stay out of grown folks business”. James posted.

Despite the speculation, LeBron accomplished exactly what he aimed for. He led the Lakers to their 17th NBA championship in 2020, securing the best record in the league before the season paused and maintaining that dominance throughout the playoffs in the bubble.
