Kirk Herbstreit's Comments About Florida State on 'College GameDay' Say It All

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit and the rest of the "College GameDay" crew were reviewing the Week 6 slate in Berkeley, California, on Saturday ahead of the Cal vs. Miami matchup.

While the panel, which includes Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, and Herbstreit, was in attendance to preview the No. 8 Hurricanes' game against the Golden Bears, they also turned their focus to another ACC program during the show.

Herbstreit commented on the current state of the Florida State Seminoles, who are 1-4 on the season, including 1-3 in the ACC.

The ESPN analyst believes the Seminoles need to find an answer soon, or Florida State's situation will get even uglier.

He mentioned that former FSU quarterback Jordan Travis was the player who changed the program under head coach Mike Norvell, but the veteran signal-caller left for the NFL draft in 2024, leaving the Seminoles with a massive hole on its roster.

Florida State is playing behind Oregon State transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The veteran quarterback has produced four touchdowns and 1,065 yards, with six interceptions and a 53.8 completion percentage.

FSU will take on the No. 15 Clemson Tigers, who are currently 3-1 on the year, in Week 6. While that matchup will be a tall task, Herbstreit thinks it's only the beginning of a tough road ahead for the Seminoles.

“If they don’t somehow find somebody," Herbstreit said. "Jordan Travis was the guy. Talk about transformational. He was the guy that changed this program and its direction for Mike Norvell. He’s no longer there. It’s one thing to just try and beat Clemson. It’s another thing to try and prevent this from being a two or three-win season right now.”

The Seminoles started the season with a conference loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Week 0. They then lost to the Boston College Eagles, Memphis Tigers and SMU Mustangs.

They've struggled immensely on the offensive end this season. Their leading rusher, Lawrance Toafili, has recorded just two touchdowns and 214 yards, and their leading receiver, Ja'Khi Douglas, has posted just one touchdown and 285 yards.

With their limited offensive production and rocky schedule on the horizon, facing Notre Dame, Miami, and Florida later this season, Herbstreit is warning the Seminoles that their record could be even worse than expected.

Herbstreit’s (justified) critique of the struggling 'Noles follows his controversial stance last season, where he faced heavy backlash for opposing the undefeated Seminoles' inclusion in the College Football Playoff after Travis' season-ending injury.

Herbstreit was instrumental in helping ESPN rig the playoff last year and will be forever known as the all time greatest POS ever. To the Author, suck a D.
