Nick Saban Takes Marshawn Lynch Shot at Seahawks on ‘College GameDay’

Many knew there would be some division on the “College GameDay” set on Saturday in Berkeley, California with celebrity guest picker Marshawn Lynch in the house.

There was no way that Lynch, a Cal Golden Bears alum who’s the second-leading rusher in school history, was going to pick against his alma mater despite being 10.5-point underdogs against the No. 8-ranked Miami Hurricanes.

Pat McAfee was the only other “CGD” analyst who agreed sided with Lynch in picking Cal to win on Saturday.

And though Nick Saban went with Miami for his pick, he pointed out that he and Lynch could agree on something as he couldn’t help himself from savagely roasting Lynch’s former NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks.

“We may disagree on our pick today, but I’m telling you man, fourth-and-1 in the Super Bowl at the 1(-yard line), I’m giving you’re a** the ball,” Saban said. “I’m giving [you] the ball [right in your chest].”

Saban, of course, is referring to Seattle’s 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX when quarterback Russell Wilson was intercepted on a pass intended for Ricardo Lockette by Patriots defensive back Malcolm Butler at the goal line that cost Seattle what would have been its second straight Super Bowl championship.

Lynch was not happy about not getting the ball in that specific situation, especially considering 12 of his 15 rushing touchdowns that season came in goal-to-go situations, including a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter earlier in the game.
