Kirk Herbstreit Predicts Five College Football Upsets on Saturday

Kirk Herbstreit and the ESPN "College GameDay" crew were in Berkeley, California, for the first time in history on Saturday, previewing a matchup between the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes and unranked California Golden Bears.

As the crew gave their predictions for the Week 6 slate, Herbstreit decided to roll with five upset picks.

The ESPN analyst is going against the betting lines , choosing SMU over Louisville, Stanford over Virginia Tech, Florida over UCF, Michigan over Washington, and South Carolina over Ole Miss.

Heading into Week 6, the SMU Mustangs were 7-point underdogs over the No. 22 Cardinals. SMU was 4-1 entering Week 6, facing a 3-1 Louisville team that was fresh off a loss to No. 14 Notre Dame.

Herbstreit believed the Mustangs' explosive offense could edge out the Cardinals. They came into the matchup averaging 42.2 points per game.

In the Stanford upset over Virginia Tech, the Cardinal entered the game as 8.5-point underdogs. They were 2-2, while the Hokies stood at 2-3 on the year.

Both teams have been extremely inconsistent all season, but Herbstreit picked the home team, Stanford, to secure the victory.

The matchup between the Florida Gators and UCF Knights was a toss-up. Herbstreit picked the 2-2 Gators to protect home-field advantage and take down the 3-1 Knights. He was joined by Nick Saban and celebrity guest picker Marshawn Lynch in the upset pick.

Florida entered the game as 1.5-point underdogs at home.

Another toss-up game in Herbstreit's selections was picking the defending champion Michigan Wolverines in a rematch of the national title game from last season, facing the Washington Huskies.

The ESPN analyst thinks Michigan's rushing attack on the offensive end is too much for the Huskies to contain. This explanation led Herbstreit to pick No. 10 Michigan, which currently stands at 4-1, to defeat the 3-2 Huskies.

Michigan also entered the game as a 1.5-point underdog.

The biggest upset in Herbstreit's prediction was taking unranked South Carolina as a 10-point underdog over No. 12 Ole Miss.

Herbstreit believes the Gamecocks, who are currently 3-1 on the year, will wreak havoc on the defensive end and take down the 4-1 Rebels, handing Ole Miss its second straight loss after falling to the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 5.
