Key Aaron Rodgers Weapon Gets Significant Punishment from NFL

Things haven't gone all that well for the New York Jets and their offense early on in the 2024 campaign, but if there are two guys who have clicked early on, it's been superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his longtime target Allen Lazard.

Prior to joining the Jets together, Lazard had caught passes from Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers for the first five seasons of his career, which has resulted in him being a key weapon for the legendary quarterback as he settles in with the Jets.

Lazard had another solid game for New York in Week 4 (5 REC, 58 YDS), even though they suffered an awful 10-9 loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos. Along the way, he made a finger gun celebration after converting a first down, and after it netted him a 15-yard penalty, the NFL also handed him a significant $14,069 fine on Saturday.

The NFL has made a concerted effort to get players to stop referencing guns in their on-field celebrations, and it led to quite a serious punishment for Lazard.

Considering how it hurt the Jets on the field, and resulted in him handing over a pretty serious chunk of cash to the league, there's a decent chance Lazard is going to retire this celebration.

For now, though, the focus for Rodgers, Lazard, and the rest of the Jets offense is finding a way to get back on track in Week 5, and they will have a shot to do that against the Minnesota Vikings.
