Vanderbilt Trolls Nick Saban After Upsetting Alabama

In one of the biggest upsets of the season, Vanderbilt stunned top-ranked Alabama with a thrilling 40-35 victory on Saturday night, shaking up the college football landscape.

After the win, the Commodores used the opportunity to troll former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban.

Saban — who coached Alabama from 2007 to 2023 — recently said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show that Vanderbilt is the easiest place to play in the SEC. After the score went final, the Commodores remembered and played the clip on their video board, per Ari Meirov .

"The only place you play in the SEC that's not hard to play is Vanderbilt," Saban said on September 20. "When you play at Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have. That's no disrespect to them. That's just the truth."

To be fair, Saban wasn’t entirely wrong. The broadcast repeatedly showed large sections of the crowd decked out in Crimson, making their presence felt throughout the game.

The problem for Alabama wasn't the environment but the play of their defense, which had no answers for Diego Pavia and the Vanderbilt offense.

The Commodores dominated with 418 yards of total offense, controlling possession for over 42 minutes. Alabama had a slim opportunity to make a late push, but Vanderbilt's offense secured key first downs, closing out the game in victory formation.
