It didn't take long for Vanderbilt's massive upset over top-ranked Alabama to get its own nickname.

The Commodores came into Saturday's game as 22.5-point underdogs but set the tone early, jumping out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and holding it through Alabama's rally to win 40-35.

The game made history for Vanderbilt, giving the program its first-ever win over a No. 1 ranked opponent and breaking a winless streak against Top 5 opponents dating back nearly 90 years.

After the game, ESPN even bestowed a new nickname on the upset, rehashing the nickname for another memorable win that took place in Nashville.

"A NEW MUSIC CITY MIRACLE!" the outlet noted in a post on X , making reference to the Tennessee Titans miracle win over the Buffalo Bills in the 1999 NFL playoffs. "VANDY STUNS NO. 1 ALABAMA FOR ITS FIRST TOP-5 WIN IN SCHOOL HISTORY"

The historic nature of the game wasn't lost on Vanderbilt. Coach Clark Lea said after the game that he believes this is just the start for the program.

“This is the dream, right here,” Lea said. "And for the next 12 hours, I’m going to enjoy the dream. We’ve got more ahead of us, but this is what Vanderbilt football needs to be about: Big wins on big stages. We’re going to go get some more.”
