OCT 6 GAME-WINNER! The Warriors are about to leave their Hawaiian training camp post, but not before registering a Saturday preseason-opening win over the Clippers 91-90 ... with a buzzer-beating shot from Lindy Waters III.

With the starters like Steph Curry playing early and the subs like Waters playing late, Lindy got to be a featured guy. Waters made the walk-off 3 as time expired ... one of his five 3s as he scored a game-high 15 points.

Curry played 14 minutes and scored nine points. ... and when the starters played, they were better than the Clips, as evidenced by the 53 to 49 halftime score.

“I see the identity of this team forming after a week,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told the media after the game. “We can feel that we’ve got a chance to be much more impactful defensively than we have been the last couple years. If we can play off of our defense, get out and run … that’s a good formula.”

OCT. 3 LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION The Hawaii training camp could be a genius idea. Steve Kerr talked about how the energy is up and how the effort is infectious to the rest of the team. During the early days of training camp, Gary Payton II did his best Spike Lee impersonation by capturing the Golden State Warriors vibe of the Hawaii getaway.

After a rough 2023-24 season, which featured the Draymond Green show of the harmful variety, Golden State needs positive energy heading into the 2024-25 season. It seems everyone received a mental break from the disappointing season, and aside from gold medalist Stephen Curry, everyone also received a much-needed physical intermission from the demanding 82-game NBA schedule.

During the recent training camp session, Payton flew around the gym as he does on defense, talking to various members of the Warriors, player and coach-related.

OCT. 2 BREAKING BARRIERS IN SANTA CRUZ Although the Golden State Warriors claim to be a "Light Years' podcast, their G League affiliate truly demonstrated the example for being ahead of their time. The Santa Cruz Warriors hired Shannon Stabler as the team's first female assistant general manager.

"To be named the first female Assistant General Manager in Santa Cruz Warriors history just means advancement," Stabler said.

Stabler spent the last six seasons busting her tail for the G League Warriors. However, before she became involved in basketball operations, she worked in the franchise's public relations department. Her immediate boss also believes in her ability to help maintain a streamlined, well-organized front office.

“Over the past two seasons, Shannon has been a great addition to our Basketball Operations team. She makes everything run smoothly from an operations, administration, and logistics standpoint,” said Santa Cruz Warriors General Manager David Fatoki. “I have full confidence in her abilities to help lead our operation and I’m excited to watch her continue to grow within our organization.”
