Josh Hart Gives Nickname to New All-NBA Teammate

Karl-Anthony Towns made his preseason debut with the New York Knicks on Sunday in a 111-109 win over the Charlotte Hornets, and by all accounts, it seemed to have gone well.

While Towns and the rest of the starters played around 15 minutes, he did show off his ability to space the floor and knock down a three. Something that earned him a unique nickname from new teammate Josh Hart.

After a video of Towns hitting the deep three began circulating on the app formerly known as Twitter, Hart commented on it with a nickname that was centered around New York. The 29-year-old Hart wrote "The Big Bodega," which is clearly an homage to one of Towns' nicknames from his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, "Big Purr."

While Towns had already confirmed last year on Paul George's "Podcast P" that he didn't like the nickname "Big Purr," he's yet to confirm whether or not he is on board with Hart's suggestion.

However, even even though he is a four-time All-Star, Towns may have to accept this nickname to fit into a Knicks locker room that is known for poking fun at one another.

The 28-year-old Towns was at the center of a three-team trade between the Knicks, Timberwolves and Hornets this past week. In exchange for the two-time All-NBA center, the Knicks sent Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop and a future first-round pick via the Pistons to Minnesota.

The Hornets ended up getting three future second-round picks and a handful of players for helping facilitate the move.

"The Big Bodega" and the Knicks are set to return to action on Wednesday as they will host the Washington Wizards for what is Towns' first game in Madison Square Garden as a member of the team.
