ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy recently recorded his "Always College Football" podcast, reviewing the Week 6 slate.

While Week 6 was arguably the least anticipated weekend of the season, it took a complete 360. During the Week 6 slate, four Top 10 teams suffered a loss, including Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan and Alabama.

One Top 10 team was on the verge of adding to that list before a late-game drive: the Miami Hurricanes.

In Week 6, Miami traveled west to face the California Golden Bears.

After narrowly defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies 38-34 in Week 5, Miami had another test in the ACC. They defeated the Golden Bears 39-38 in Week 6 behind a late-game drive from star quarterback Cam Ward.

While the Hurricanes are currently 6-0 on the season and are listed as the No. 6 team in the AP Poll ranking, McElroy believes they still have work to do. With their performance against the Golden Bears, McElroy thinks Miami is on "thin ice" right now.

"They are playing on very thin ice right now," McElroy said. "They need to be better. They need to be more consistent on both sides of the ball... Their performance on the defensive end has left something to be desired."

The Hurricanes have defeated the Golden Bears, Hokies, USF Bulls, Ball State Cardinals, FAMU Rattlers and Florida Gators.

While Ward, the Washington State transfer quarterback, has played phenomenal all season, posting 20 touchdowns and 2,219 yards, McElroy believes that the Hurricanes' defense is holding them back.

In the loss to the Golden Bears, Miami gave up 297 passing yards. They played stout defense against the run, but the Hurricanes gave up over 50 yards to four separate receivers.

Miami has given up 34 or more points in its last two meetings, both of which were in conference play. Another massive issue with the Hurricanes has been ongoing penalties, which have greatly plagued Miami's flow on both ends of the field.

In Week 6 against California, Miami had nine penalties that accounted for 110 yards in favor of the Golden Bears.
