The Buffalo Bills started the season 3-0, but after two consecutive losses it has become clear that quarterback Josh Allen needs a new running mate in the absence of wide receiver Stefon Diggs .

Taking into account Buffalo's loss to the Houston Texans in Week 5, as well as injury concerns and roster deficiencies, Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department suggested that Buffalo make a hard run in the coming weeks to secure star wideout Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders .

"In Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans, Allen didn't have his top wideout Khalil Shakir . The Bills' aerial attack couldn't get much going aside from Keon Coleman's 49-yard catch-and-run play for a touchdown," B/R wrote . "Shakir may have a short-term injury, but his absence and the consequential dropoff of the Bills' aerial attack should ramp up the front office's urgency to pursue Davante Adams."

Multiple reports from around the league indicate that the Bills are among the teams who have already inquired with Las Vegas about its top receiver. However, trade talks with the Raiders have not picked up steam where Buffalo, or any other NFL franchise, is concerned due to the Raiders' asking price.

Las Vegas wants a second-round pick plus another asset in exchange for Adams, who is playing his age-32 season. Adams is also currently battling a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for each of the past two games.

"Perception across the teams involved holds that Adams is trying to get to the [New York] Jets , but the Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers have called, as well. The [New Orleans] Saints are also one of the teams Adams would like to go to," Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated wrote Monday . "The Raiders want a second-round pick. That ask is too much based on the market for Keenan Allen (a fourth-round pick) and Stefon Diggs (the rough equivalent of a third-round pick) in the offseason."

Moreover, Adams is playing in just the third season of a five-year deal worth $140 million .

Teams have asked the Raiders to assume responsibility for some of Adams' salary if they want a second- or third-round pick in return, but Las Vegas has held firm in its negotiating position to this point.
