Calls Mount for Saints to Make Big Move Amid Derek Carr Injury

After a solid start to the season that saw them win two games in a row, the New Orleans Saints are now in a slump. Their 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road on Monday was their third straight.

Making things worse for the Saints is the concerning injury quarterback Derek Carr suffered in the Chiefs game. Carr exited the showdown against the reigning Super Bowl champions in the fourth quarter with an upper-body issue that was later deemed to be an oblique injury.

Jake Haener took over the quarterbacking duties for the Saints after Carr left. However, several fans seem to be more interested in seeing rookie Spencer Rattler under center next.

Rattler was labeled inactive ahead of the Saints-Chiefs game. He has yet to see action in the 2024 NFL regular season, but he could get a chance to finally see the field for the first time in this campaign in Week 6 if Carr gets ruled out of Sunday’s home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Before he left the Chiefs game, Carr had amassed 165 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception.

A former star quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners and South Carolina Gamecocks, Rattler was a fifth-round pick (150th overall) by the Saints at the 2024 NFL draft.
