Troy Aikman Immediately Regretted His Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Comment

Former NFL star-turned-TV commentator Troy Aikman knew he made a big mistake when he commented about Taylor Swift during ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast.

Swift was in attendance for the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium. As usual, the broadcast cameras often showed her during the game as she cheered for her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

During the second quarter after the broadcast camera panned to Swift following a play by Kelce, Aikman said "the missus likes it."

Sure enough, Aikman immediately regretted it after his broadcast partner and play-by-play announcer Joe Buck pointed out his mistake.

"You know they're not married?" Buck said, to which Aikman replied: "I'm sure I'm in trouble for saying that."

As Troy Aikman expected, fans were quick to call him out for the Taylor Swift mistake .

Several fans expressed shock over Aikman's error, with one even noting that it's demeaning to call a highly successful woman simply someone's wife. Another critic noted that Aikman might get canceled for his comments.

It remains to be seen if Aikman will apologize for the mistake or whether Swift will comment about it. But considering the legion of fans that the music icon has, the Dallas Cowboys legend and Hall of Famer should probably expect to hear more criticism moving forward.
