'A Stretch!' Micah Predicts Davante Trade

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys "Lion-backer'' Micah Parsons kept himself busy on Monday, working here inside The Star in hopes of rehabbing his ankle in a way that can get him back on the field after missing Sunday night's 20-17 win at the Steelers ... and later in the day, grabbing the microphone on his podcast to address a major NFL issue of the day ...

The future destination of perpetually unhappy wide receiver Davante Adams.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Parsons was in attendance at team headquarters to get treatment on the high ankle sprain.

“He’s got some work to do; we knew this week would be a stretch,'' the coach said in regard to the All-Pro returning to the field in time to participate in NFL Week 6 against the Detroit Lions this weekend.

Also a stretch: The goofy rumors that attached the Cowboys to the acquisition of Adams, who wants out of the Las Vegas Raiders. (Why "goofy''? See below.)

No, the only involvement 3-2 Dallas has in the Adams saga is wondering how he might engineer his way out of Sin City and onto a team that features a best buddy at quarterback. The Commanders and Steelers and Bills might have a need. But they don't have the "best buddy'' advantage. (Adams is under contract, and not a free agent. But while he doesn't officially "have a choice'' in the matter, he'll likely massage down his bloated contract - $36 million in each of the next two years - with the right team.)

His college QB at Fresno State was Derek Carr, now in New Orleans. And his Green Bay pal was Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets. And that's the smart money, as Micah knows.

"I think that relationship with the Jets is gonna come to life," Parsons said on his podcast, The Edge .''

Parsons also insisted that Adams - who cancelled a Tuesday media appearance, lending credence to the idea that a trade well before the Nov. 5 deadline is on the front burner - "brings a winning culture" to a team ... an odd claim, as since acquiring Adams from the Packers in 2022, the Raiders have gone just 16-22.
