There is more turmoil taking place in the New York Jets football organization, with head coach Robert Saleh being fired on Tuesday morning after just the first five games of the 2024 season.

The Jets, once a Super Bowl favorite this season, have had an underwhelming start to the year, going 2-3 in their first five games. With Aaron Rodgers under center, there is an expectation that this team should be playoff-bound, but the Jets were subverting those expectations by a large margin.

Now, New York will get a jump on the coaching cycle when looking to hire a new head coach this offseason. According to betting odds from Bovada , there is a leader in the clubhouse, and he's a multi-time Super Bowl Champion.

Former New England Patriots linebacker and Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is the odds-on favorite, listed at +275 to be the Jets' next head coach.

As a player under Bill Belichick, Vrable won three Super Bowls before retiring and starting his coaching career. Vrabel then went 54-45 in six years with the Titans before being dismissed following the 2023 season. Vrabel is now serving in an analyst role on the Cleveland Browns staff.

Not far behind Vrabel on the odds board is Belichick, who is listed with +290 odds. Belichick is enjoying a year away from coaching after stepping away from the Patriots' job following the 2023 season.

There is an expectation for Belichick to get back into coaching next year as he tries to break Don Shula's record for most wins in NFL history. At the moment, Belichick sits at 302 career wins, 26 behind Shula's 328.

The belief is that Belichick wants to take over a solid franchise that can be good right away, rather than a rebuilding project.

The Jets make sense for both of these coaches looking to get back in the game. For now, though, it appears that Vrabel is the slight favorite to get the job.
