    The New York Yankees Tax Their Bullpen In Game 2 Of ALDS

    The New York Yankees utilized eight pitchers in their Game 2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Monday night.

    The Yankees fell 4-2 to the Royals as the American League Division Series is now even at a game a piece.

    Carlos Rodón started the game for the Yankees. He struck out the side in the first inning and took a shutout into the fourth. The lefty gave up four hits in the inning before being relieved by Ian Hamilton. The Royals would go on to take a 4-1 lead after the end of the inning.

    Hamilton would pitch a 1-2-3 fifth before his night came to an end. Aaron Boone then used six more relievers to get the best 12 outs.

    The bullpen combined the throw 5.1 innings of shutout baseball while allowing four hits and two walks.

    The Yankees used four of the same relievers in Gane 1 of the series. Tim Hill. Clay Holmes, Tim Mayza, And Luke Weaver have all appeared in both games.

    Luis Gil has yet to pitch in the playoffs for the Yankees. Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported that the rookie may be used in a variety of ways out of the bullpen.

    The Yankees had an off day in between Games 1 and 2 and will travel to Kansas City on Tuesday before their Game 3 matchup on Wednesday.

    Clarke Schmidt will take the mound and will look to provide the pitching staff with innings as he takes on the Royals Wednesday night at 7:08 p.m.
