Fever President Throws Subtle Shade at Sheryl Swoopes' Caitlin Clark Accusations

If there were ever any question regarding how those internally feel about Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, it was answered on Tuesday morning when new president of basketball operations Kelly Krauskopf spoke to reporters.

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes started a social media firestorm weeks ago when she claimed on the “Gil’s Arena” podcast that several players in Indiana’s locker room want out of town because no one wants to play with Clark.

Krauskopf addressed those accusations on Tuesday, and indirectly made Swoopes seem foolish for speaking about something she has no firsthand knowledge of.

“I would think that if you are a smart basketball player, and you watch the way she plays, you would want to play with her,” Krauskopf said. “Much like Tyrese Haliburton, she gets you the ball in places you didn’t even know you were open because she passes to space, she finds openings and ways to free up other players. So, I look at really how her and Kelsey (Mitchell) worked together and the efficiency of the offense because of the way that she plays the game.”

Krauskopf’s remarks directly oppose what Swoopes said just last month when she hinted to a potentially divide in the Fever locker room, which many took to mean the team would have trouble convincing free agents to come to Indiana to play with Clark.

“There's a lot of other s*** going on, that other [Fever] players are like ‘This ain't where I want to be,’” Swoopes said. “So you have players that are very significant on this Indiana Fever team that are like, ’'I don't...I don't think this is where I want to be this year.’”

Krauskopf isn’t the only who to debunk Swoopes’ theory recently. In a recent interview with Brian O’Keefe of Esquire, Los Angeles Lakers start LeBron James also suggested Swoopes’ Clark accusations were nonsensical.

“[Clark] has the vision, she has the spirit, she’s infectious (and) people want to play with her,” James said . “[The Fever are] going to be a really good team, and not too long from now.”

What Swoopes was saying is they don't want to play with Clark because of the harassment they get from her fans. Their family, on social media. Aliyah Boston and Nylesha Smith both mentioned this. But it's deny/deflect as usual with white folks🙄
