Deion Sanders Pushes for One Major Change in College Football

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is pushing for a major change in the college football landscape. You may be surprised to learn the rule that has his attention.

Heading into the team's Week 7 matchup against the Kansas State Wildcats, Coach Prime spoke at length about the NCAA rules regarding players that redshirt. Spectators are seeing players across college football sit out the remainder of the season after playing four games in order to preserve an additional year of eligibility via redshirt rules.

Sanders believes that players should be allowed to move on to their new team during the season rather than remaining with their current program.

To clarify, this would not impact players who plan to remain with their current school. Sanders is not suggesting that players who are transferring are able to suit up immediately but could practice with their new team.

"It needs to be a rule NCAA-wise, if that's your course of action, they should let them go and start their next journey with whatever team that is that they've already been talking to," Sanders explained during an Oct. 8 press conference .

"Because they've already been talking, just like the two guys that we played several weeks ago at Colorado State. They said they were offered how much in the portal. How are you offered $600 [thousand] and you didn't get in the portal? Why could none of y'all ask that question? How are you offered $600,000, but you didn't get in the portal? I got time today."

In other words, Sanders is not thrilled with players who plan to enter the transfer portal remaining with Colorado during the season. As NIL deals and the transfer portal continue to change college football, it will be interesting to see how the NCAA adapts the current rules.

“We should be able to allow you to go [to your new team], because if a guy is redshirting for himself, and he don't plan on being here, why would you want him here?" Sanders pondered.

"That's really not fair to him. It's not fair to his teammates.”
