The number of ranked college football teams who lost last weekend was nothing short of remarkable. The Vanderbilt Commodores took the spotlight after a historic 40-35 takedown of the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in Nashville for the program's first win over an AP No. 1 team. The chaos did not end there, with two more SEC and Big Ten teams losing in Week 6.

The No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers, No. 9 Missouri Tigers, No. 10 Michigan Wolverines, and No. 11 USC Trojans also lost. The No. 22 Louisville Cardinals fell to the SMU Mustangs, and the Syracuse Orange upended No. 25 UNLV.

On a recent " Always College Football " episode, Greg McElroy focused on Michigan's 27-17 loss to the Washington Huskies and declared the Wolverines' season was "too late to salvage."

"...Michigan really hasn't, at this point, felt great about their passing attack, and Washington's fans are about to come unglued because they are so fired up with the way their team started," McElroy said. "In goes Tuttle, and it just feels like too little too late to salvage the season for Michigan."

Michigan's quarterback play has been inconsistent this season. Alex Orji has the most games played with six but has 148 passing yards from those appearances. Davis Warren leads Michigan quarterbacks with 444 passing yards but has two touchdowns and six interceptions.

Then steps in Indiana Hoosiers transfer Jack Tuttle.

Tuttle is playing his seventh season of college football in 2024 but suffered an injury earlier this season, limiting his playing time. He appeared in his first game against Washington and finished with 98 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In addition to the one interception, Tuttle also lost a fumble in Michigan territory, resulting in a Washington touchdown on the following drive.

After a bye week, No. 24 Michigan awaits the No. 23 Illinois Fighting Illini. That game is on CBS on Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
