As hard as it can be for fans to control their emotions during NFL games, that feeling has to be magnified for the players on the field.

One official in the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 5 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers nearly found that out in a painful way after Dak Prescott’s game-winning touchdown pass.

Prescott led the Cowboys on a 15-play, 70-yard drive that was capped off with a go-ahead touchdown pass on 4th-and-four with 20 seconds remaining. The pass, which Jalen Tolbert hauled in, also came just two plays after Prescott saved the Cowboys from near disaster, as he recovered Rico Dowdle's fumble on 2nd-and-goal with 35 seconds left.

Rightfully, Prescott was fired up after the touchdown and immediately turned while punching the air — but as one angle shows, his celebratory punch nearly knocked out an official.

Prescott can be seen in the bottom right of the video and was so close that the referee jumped backward and attempted to cover his face with his hands.

While it was unintentional by Prescott, all parties involved are fortunate the Cowboys quarterback wasn't a bit closer to the official.

Prescott leading the Cowboys on the game-winning drive was even more impressive when factoring in how a few key moments earlier in the night went. The three-time Pro Bowler turned the ball over three times against the Steelers, including throwing a goal-line interception and fumbling in the red zone.

In the end, Prescott stepped up when it mattered most for the Cowboys and finished the night with 352 passing yards and two key fourth-quarter touchdowns in the 20-17 victory.
