There are not a lot of bigger pop stars today than Sabrina Carpenter. Her music is simply inescapable. Another thing that’s hard to get away from? Sports fandom. Just ask Carpenter about that, as she rocked a Philadelphia Phillies jersey on Tuesday when she performed at Wells Fargo Arena as part of her Short n’ Sweet Tour.

The 25-year-old Carpenter was born in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, so there’s some connection there between her and the Phillies, who are in the middle of a National League Divisional Series against one of their bitter rivals, the New York Mets.

Countless photos and videos of Carpenter wearing Phillies colors have since circulated on social media timelines, including this one from Jomboy Media.

But on the same night that Carpenter had a concert in the City of Brotherly Love, the Phillies suffered a 7-2 loss to the Mets in Game 3 of the NLDS, which took place at Citi Field in Queens.

The Phillies are now in survival mode. Another loss and they will be packing their bags for an early vacation. So, in the words of Carpenter, Phillies fans must be saying “Please, please, please don't prove [the Mets] right.”

The Phillies and the Mets will play Game 4 of their series this Wednesday evening, with Ranger Suarez starting for Philadelphia and Jose Quintana toeing the rubber for New York.
