The Los Angeles Clippers faced an injury scare in their second preseason game on Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets as Derrick Jones Jr. left prematurely after sustaining a nasty hit to the face.

But following the team's 115-106 victory in San Diego, head coach Ty Lue announced in postgame that the veteran wingman is completely fine following the unfortunate sequence.

    Details behind DJJ’s early exit

With over two minutes left on the clock of the second quarter, DJJ was suddenly hit in the face coming off a screen in the Clippers' offensive possession. He collapsed to the ground, which prompted Lue to call for an immediate timeout.

Jones Jr. remained on his knees for several minutes and eventually got up, assisted by the team's medical staff, and went to the locker room. A few moments later, the Clippers announced that he won't return to the ball game due to a head contusion.

Before being ruled out of the match, DJJ compiled 3 points, 3 blocks and an assist across 13 minutes of play.

    Not completely concerning

Fortunately, it's only a minor injury for Jones Jr. And considering that it's only preseason, we can only be optimistic that the 27-year-old will ultimately find himself back and available for the Clippers at some point soon.

L.A. entered their preseason outing against the Nets with four players on the injury report such as Kawhi Leonard (knee), Bones Hyland (hip), Mo Bamba (knee), and Trentyn Flowers (wrist surgery).
