The Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback situation is quite interesting. The team started their campaign with Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback over Justin Fields. However, a calf injury forced Wilson to miss the start of the season, thrusting Fields to the starting role.

Fields excelled to start the year, leading Pittsburgh to a 3-0 record. Since then, though, the Steelers have lost two straight games. With Wilson returning as a full participant to practice, it's fair to wonder if the team will turn to the veteran over Fields.

However, a report from Josina Anderson sheds some light on a potential Russell Wilson return. According to her source, the odds that Wilson returns for Week 6 are quite slim.

“I think Russ has to have a good week of practice for it even to be a discussion," Anderson's source said. "He hasn’t substantially practiced since he reinjured his calf.”

Fields has been solid for the Steelers this season, a pleasant surprise for fans of the quarterback. He's completing 67.6% of his passes, a marked improvement from his first three years while throwing fewer picks. Fields has made a solid case to be the Steelers' QB1 this season.

Unfortunately, Fields had his worst game in a Steelers jersey against the Cowboys. While he threw two touchdowns with no picks, he completed a measly 55.7% of his passes. That, combined with Wilson's return to practice, puts his job as the starter in jeopardy.

Head coach Mike Tomlin has stated before the season that Wilson was the QB1 of the Steelers. It was a chance for Russ to prove that he's still a quality quarterback after a lackluster campaign in Denver. Now, though, Russ has more to prove after Fields' performance through five weeks.

We'll see how Pittsburgh reacts to their brutal loss to the Cowboys now that their original QB1 has returned.
