Kirby Smart Provides Key Update on WR Colbie Young Following Arrest

Earlier this week, transfer wide receiver Colbie Young from Miami , now in his first year with the Georgia Bulldogs , was arrested and cited on two misdemeanor charges: battery and assault on an unborn child. He was detained early Tuesday morning.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart addressed the situation for the first time, providing an update on how the team will handle the matter until it is resolved.

"I spoke to him this morning," Smart said . "He's been suspended indefinitely until the legal matter is resolved. We can't comment any further on the specifics of it, but we had a good meeting this morning." (Via On3 )

The Georgia Bulldogs program has faced a troubling trend of off-field issues, with 24 incidents involving players cited for reckless driving or speeding since 2023.

Star running back Trevor Etienne was charged with a DUI earlier this season and was suspended for Week 1, though that matter was later resolved after he accepted a plea deal.

Despite these challenges, the team recently secured a significant bounce-back win over the Auburn Tigers . However, they now find themselves grappling with off-field issues that bring unwanted negative attention to a program that has experienced immense success under Kirby Smart.
