Texas Safety 'Remembers' Taunt by Oklahoma's Danny Stutsman Ahead of Red River Rivalry

The Texas Longhorns lost last year's Red River Rivalry in agonizing fashion to the Oklahoma Sooners.

After Texas rallied back to erase a 10-point third-quarter deficit, they ended up taking a 30-27 lead with 1:17 remaining. All that was needed now was one final stop on defense. An ask that was too big on that day in Dallas, as Dillon Gabriel dissected the Texas defense down the field to set up a game-winning pass to Nic Anderson with 15 seconds left.

Following the game, the Sooners were understandably excited, but star linebacker Danny Stutsman took it to a whole other level. He, along with head coach Brent Venables posed in shirts that read “Oklahoma only fears God. Texas fears Oklahoma.”

While this win ended up being the biggest moment of the Sooners' season, and just a hiccup for Texas, who still made the Playoff, safety Michael Taaffe revealed had a bit of a cryptic message about it.

“It’s a new season,” Taaffe said . “We’ve got a whole new team. I’m not too focused about what they did last year or about what we did last year.

    “But I do remember everything.”

The Longhorns have a chance to make a statement as they come into this meeting as the No. 1 ranked team in the country, which marks the first time in 40 years that is the case for Red River.

According to ESPN, Texas is favored by two touchdowns, and thanks to Stutsman's social media post and merch from last year, the Longhorns may want to surpass that two-touchdown mark significantly.
