Matt LaFleur’s Awkward Interaction with Romeo Doubs at Packers Practice Caught on Camera

After being suspended for last week’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams — a game the Green Bay Packers won 24-19 — receiver Romeo Doubs returned to practice this week.

The 24-year-old wideout was suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team after he no-showed practice on Thursday and Friday of last week, and was subsequently found at his home not answering his phone when a team representative went to check on him.

Doubs, who is reportedly unhappy with his role in Green Bay’s offense, returned to practice on Wednesday and had quite the awkward interaction with head coach Matt LaFleur, which was caught on camera.

In the 19-second video, LaFleur can be seen chumming it up with receiver Christian Watson and safety Xavier McKinney before making his way toward Doubs. The two shared a brief ice-cold hand shake and Doubs appeared to have a rather reserved demeanor.

In Doubs’ absence, receiver Jayden Reed and tight end Tucker Kraft led the Packers with four catches each against the Rams, and quarterback Jordan Love threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns.

Through four games, Doubs has logged 12 receptions on 20 targets for 169 yards, and up until last week, he was Green Bay’s second-most targeted WR. It’s unclear if things have been smoothed over between Doubs and the Packers coaching staff, but LaFleur made it pretty clear last week on his podcast that Doubs’ attitude needs to change if he doesn’t want his playing time to take a hit.

“What I'll tell you is — and I've said this not only to him but to all our guys — my job and our jobs as coaches is to put our team in the best position to have success,” LaFleur said. “I'm a big believer of that. With team success comes individual success. We've seen it over the course of our years here. In particular, when we win, everybody reaches the benefit of that. We want to continue to do that and not going to compromise what it takes to win games.”

You signed a contract of his own free will to play football for the Green Bay Packers. If you don't want to do it find him equal to the pay he would get for the week and let him sit on the bench or wherever he wants to but don't let him make money because he don't want to play for you
