ESPN SP+ Predicts Outcome of Massive Top 15 College Football Matchup in Week 7

Some phenomenal matchups are happening in Week 7 of college football. The Red River Rivalry, the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. the No. 3 Oregon Ducks, and the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels vs. the No. 13 LSU Tigers are some of the best games the weekend offers.

Some intriguing ranked vs. unranked matchups are also taking place, with the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers returning to Knoxville to face the Florida Gators following their upset loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks. In the Big 12, there is the No. 16 Utah Utes vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils, and the No. 14 BYU Cougars face the Arizona Wildcats. The No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions play the USC Trojans in the Big Ten.

While the Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners will be the main talking point in the SEC, the Ole Miss-LSU is still significant due to the College Football Playoff moving to 12 teams.

Ole Miss is ranked higher than LSU, but the Tigers control the series and lead 65-42-4 . The Rebels won last season's matchup, and the ESPN SP+ model predicted a similar result in 2024, foreseeing a 34-28 win for Ole Miss. It gave Lane Kiffin and company a 65% chance to win, and the model favored them by 6.2 points.

Last season, Ole Miss and LSU had a shootout for the ages that ended 55-49 in favor of the Rebels. Heisman winner Jayden Daniels is no longer in Baton Rouge as Garrett Nussmeier leads LSU under center, and Jaxson Dart is still the starting quarterback for Ole Miss.
