Colts sign former Gophers basketball player Jack Wilson to practice squad

Former Minnesota Golden Gophers basketball player Jack Wilson has signed with the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad, according to the team on Wednesday.

The California native played in seven games for Minnesota during the 2023-24 season, tallying 11 points and six rebounds. He mainly came off the bench in blowouts and wasn't much of a factor for a team that won 19 games, the most in five years.

The six-foot, 11-inch, 310-pound Wilson previously played football for Washington State from 2020-22, on the offensive line and special teams.

Wilson also played for Washington State's basketball team during the 2022-23 season, appearing in 14 games. He also played basketball at Idaho (2019-20) and Oregon State (2018-19).

He will play offensive tackle for the Colts.

It may be a stretch for Wilson to make his NFL debut with the Colts, as the team's offensive line is considered the best in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

The 2024-25 Gophers men's basketball season tips off with exhibition play on Oct. 19 against Bemidji State and the regular season opener is scheduled against Oral Roberts on Nov. 6.
