Joel Klatt Predicts College Football Upset on Saturday

Saturday is packed with high-stakes matchups across the college football landscape. From the No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Oregon clash to the Red River Rivalry between No. 1 Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners , fans can expect a weekend full of excitement and uncertainty.

On Thursday, college football analyst and former quarterback Joel Klatt shared his weekly picks on his podcast, " The Joel Klatt Show ," where he unveiled a significant upset he believes is brewing in the SEC this weekend. The matchup in question is between the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels and the No. 13 LSU Tigers .

Although the Rebels are heading on the road as 3.5-point favorites, Klatt thinks LSU will come out on top outright.

"Ole Miss is favored by 3.5, don't like that at all. Ole Miss on the road, at night, in Death Valley, with LSU coming off a bye and injury concerns for Ole Miss—this is an LSU win for me all day long," Klatt said

This is a massive game for several reasons, not least because the loser will suffer their second loss of the season. For Ole Miss, it would mark their second SEC loss, while LSU, having already lost to USC, is still unbeaten in conference play.

The implications for the College Football Playoff are also significant. There’s a strong possibility that the loser of this matchup could miss out on the SEC Championship.

While it's not a certainty, having a head-to-head loss against a team considered one of the best in the conference makes it exceedingly difficult to secure a spot. Both teams carry that prestigious label, adding even more weight to this crucial game.

The matchup in Death Valley Saturday night at Tiger Stadium is set to kickoff at 7:30 PM ET on ABC.
