Wednesday evening was a unique experience for Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks.

The former Minnesota Timberwolves star was traded to New York just a few weeks before the start of training camp and has gotten a crash course look over what the expectations are when it comes to playing in one of the biggest markets in sports.

While Wednesday night's 117-94 win over the Washington Wizards wasn't Towns' most efficient game, he showed the kind of skills the Knicks have been looking for at the center position.

Towns recorded 25 points on 7-20 shooting while adding 12 rebounds. It wasn't the smoothest night, but showed how good he could be in front of the Knicks' home crowd.

“There’s going to be tough nights when I’m not shooting well, especially at the Garden,” Towns said. “Obviously the pressure’s different. Show mental toughness to my teammates and the fans even when things are not going well, I’ll pick it up on either on the defensive end, or just find the groove sooner rather than later in the game. For me it’s just stay mentally tough, continue to fight through the adversity and hit some shots when we needed to garner the lead. I’m just happy that a game like this was able to teach me a little bit.”

Towns is learning a new team and new home so there needs to be some semblance of expectancy that every night won't be an All-NBA performance.

At the same time, though, the Knicks brought him in for a reason, and Towns showed why Wednesday night.
