The New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh following the team's disappointing 2-3 start to the 2024 NFL season.

Despite high expectations with the return of a healthy Aaron Rodgers, things seemed off with the Jets since their Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Back-to-back losses to the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings in Weeks 4 and 5 ultimately sealed Saleh's fate.

While the Jets certainly haven't looked great to start the year, there are some who feel Saleh's firing was a bit premature.

Legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick is one of those people.

"It is a little bit puzzling," Belichick said on the Coach Podcast on Wednesday. "It is what it is, and everybody has to move forward. It's the owner's prerogative to make that decision, and clearly that's what he decided to do."

Belichick then sounded the alarm on the Jets franchise, pointing out a "chill" that's plagued the team so far this season.

"But there have been a lot of things that have been kind of confusing," he continued. "It hasn't been a great situation for the Jets this year. You can kind of feel there's been kind of a chill."

The Jets will look to get their season back on track in a Week 6 Monday Night Football matchup against the division-rival Buffalo Bills. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will serve as the team's acting head coach.

Don’t care what bill has to say. Saleh should have been fired the end of last season. He started this season the same way he ended last season. It was time for him to go .
