Over the past few games, the Texas Longhorns have run with quarterback Arch Manning while starter Quinn Ewers has been out after suffering an abdominal strain during Texas' Week 3 win over UTSA.

Manning filled in well, leading the Longhorns to a 2-0 record in two starts, including their first SEC win over Mississippi State. Through four games played, the freshman from New Orleans, Lousiana, has completed 55-of-78 passes for 901 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He has also added three scores on the ground.

However, Manning's time under center will be coming to an end for the upcoming Red River Rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners.

According to Chip Brown of 247Sports, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian revealed during his Thursday Zoom availability that Ewers will play in Week 7 against the Sooners.

In 2.5 games this season, Ewers has had similar passing stats as Manning, completing 58-of-79 passes for 691 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions. The most notable difference between the two quarterbacks has been Manning's running ability, outgaining Ewers on the ground 82-1. Not to mention the three touchdowns compared to Ewers' zero.

The Longhorns are coming off a bye week that saw multiple top-25 teams fall. With Vanderbilt's win over No. 1 Alabama, Texas was able to jump back to the top spot in the AP poll.

Texas is entering one of the toughest stretches of the season. Following their battle with No. 18 Oklahoma, they will stay in Austin as the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs come to town in Week 8. The following week, the Longhorns will head to Nashville to face a Vanderbilt team that is riding high following its win over Bama.

This is the same process that Eli had to go through at Old Miss, and it’s something that Arch has discussed with his family before coming to Texas. I’m like most people and would like to see him play. !!
