'Dumbfounded!' Zeke Wants Answers as Rico Stars

    By Mike Fisher,

FRISCO - Not much phases Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle . Fresh off what could easily be described as his best game as a pro, the running back is simply looking forward to continuing to build on his performance against the Detroit Lions.

Meanwhile, the elder statesman of the running back room, Ezekiel Elliott, is simply looking ... for his job description.

Dowdle was a focal point of the Cowboys' offense against the Pittsburgh Steelers, rushing for 87 yards on 20 carries while also being an option in the passing game, having two receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.

With some seeing Rico as the savior of the running back room after his exploits in Pittsburgh, he isn't worried about that kind of talk.

"Just continue to try and build on it," Dowdle said of his performance against Pittsburgh. "Playing against another great run defense [Lions] and we going have to go out there, and it's going to be a challenge, and we going have to face it how we did last week. We'll see but just got to continue to stack and prep the right way, practice the right way, everything else will work out."

The Dallas rushing attack wasn't productive until the Steelers game, and with the Lions rolling into AT&T Stadium for Week 5, it will be yet another test to see if Dowdle can continue the momentum built against the Steelers.

Detroit has conceded over 100 rushing yards once, 133 vs. the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, but prior to that, the most conceded was 83 in Week 1 vs. the Los Angeles Rams.

But what about Elliott? Multiple reports have him initiating a meeting with coach to ask about his shrinking role, with one note describing him as "dumbfounded'' over his inaction.

Maybe Zeke gets more chances as the year rolls on. But right now? This is largely about Rico, and this will be another stern test to see if what we witnessed against the Steelers was a sign of the run game turning the corner or if it was fool's gold.

Dowdle seems hell-bent on ensuring it is the start of something rather promising.

Ugh! In the beginning of his (elliot) career I liked him but then when he "sat out" for more money I lost all respect. Don't understand why cowboys brought him back. He pouts when he doesn't get the ball and when he does get it...right up the middle to get tackled, blocked, etc right away.
