Big WNBA News Leaves Angel Reese, Sky Fans Desperate for New Coach

The dust has now settled on the Chicago Sky's rather surprising decision to part ways with now-former head coach Teresa Weatherspoon after just one year at the helm.

There's no denying that the Sky were not able to live up to the lofty expectations the fans and the organization had on them this past season after finishing the campaign with a 13-27 record and failing to secure a spot in the playoffs. However, more than a few fans out there believe that the decision to fire Weatherspoon may have been premature, especially considering how she was able to build such strong relationships with her players.

Sky cornerstone star Angel Reese, in particular, previously spoke out about Weatherspoon's unceremonious exit as the 22-year-old expressed how heartbroken she was with the decision.

That's now all water under the bridge, though, and whether Reese and the fans like it or not, the team will need to move on.

At this point, it appears that Chicago supporters have found the perfect replacement for Weatherspoon. This is after it was reported on Thursday that Stephanie White is not expected to return to the Connecticut Sun next year as their head coach. White coached the Sun in the past two seasons.

The big news took social media by storm, with Sky fans all saying the same thing about White, who was named the WNBA Coach of the Year in 2023.

"Chicago please 🤞🤞" pleaded a supporter.

"Chicago??????????" asked another.

"She already loves Angel and spoke about her recently so , sky she goes 🙂‍↔️" a comment read.

"😳😳 Chicago PLEASE," reacted a fan.

"Chicago. She would fit in well with Reese. Talk about improving the Indiana/Chicago rivalry a notch," commented a user.

It is also worth noting that the report came from Annie Costabile, who is a Sky beat reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times. She also mentions in her article, however, that the Sky will need to dig deep into their pockets if they are serious about securing White's services.

Given her credentials, it would not be surprising if White generates interest from other teams as well, should she become available. The Sky will need to act fast if they want Stephanie White.
