ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit was recently in the booth, calling the "Thursday Night Football" matchup between the San Fransico 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

During the 49ers' 36-24 victory, Herbstreit made a comment about the NFC that seemingly had fans furious on social media.

As the 49ers were rounding out the win in the fourth quarter, Herbsreit deemed the NFC West squad as the No. 1 team in the NFL, with a healthy roster.

He mentioned that fans might have an agreement with teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, or Green Bay Packers, but he excluded the No. 1 ranked team in the NFC, the Minnesota Vikings.

"Not right now, but when you look at the roster, and you look at another potential, I think San Francisco, especially if they get Christian McCaffery back, who else besides them? questioned Herbstreit. "They can bring up Dallas, can bring up Green Bay, Tampa."

NFL fans took clear offense to Herbstreit's comments about the NFC, sending messages to the ESPN analyst online.

"Vikings fans feel especially offended by Kirk Herbstreit tonight," said one fan. "Maybe he doesn’t watch any Vikings games."

"Aye Kirk Herbstreit did you forget the Minnesota Vikings exist?," questioned one fan.

"Kirk Herbstreit is way in over his head. He says the best team in the NFC is 49ers. After that he claims it's the Cowboys, Buccaneers..no mention of the Packers , Vikings or Lions lol. Then he says Rayshaun Jenkins is a great player." explained another fan.

"I’ve had enough of listening to Kirk Herbstreit calling NFL games," said one fan. "Doesn’t even mention the Minnesota Vikings as the best team in the NFC."

"Kirk Herbstreit is a clown," said another fan. "He didn't even mention the Vikings as one of the best rosters/teams in the NFC."

"Kirk Herbstreit not mentioning the 5-0 Vikings when talking about the best teams in the NFC is hilarious," commented one fan.

The Vikings have been playing behind the success of the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 draft, Sam Darnold.

The NFL journeyman has produced 11 touchdowns and 1,111 yards this season. He's proven to be one of the most efficient passes in the NFL, despite being a backup for much of the last few years.

Darnold has a 63.5 completion percentage and has thrown four interceptions on the season.

He's helped the Vikings earn a 5-0 record despite playing one of the toughest early-season schedules of the year. Minnesota has defeated the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers, and New York Jets.

The Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs are the only two teams in the NFL with an undefeated record.

While the 49ers have an extremely talented roster with players like Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, and other offensive weapons, injuries have plagued their overall development in 2024.

The Vikings are the hottest team in the NFL, but Herbstreit seems to be buying stock in the Cowboys, who are 3-2, the 49ers, who are 3-3, and the Buccaneers, who are 3-2.
