FRISCO -The Dallas Cowboys will host the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Both teams are looking for win No. 4 on the season - but the home team will be short on defensive firepower.

The Cowboys defense is a walking injury list. Cornerback Trevon Diggs has been slowed in practice this week with an illness and an ankle issue. But he is now cleared to play.

They hope to get cornerback Daron Bland back in the near future, so that’s good news; not notably, he is listed as questionable for the game, but he got a DNP on Friday.

All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons (ankle) is listed as week-to-week, but is not going to play this weekend. Starting middle linebacker Erik Kendricks is also out. And defensive end Demarcus Lawrence is on the IR, as is defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, who was placed on the IR on Wednesday.

Quarterback Dak Prescott will need to put this game on his shoulders. He still has CeeDee Lamb as his No. 1 receiver, but with Brandin Cooks on the IR, Jalen Brooks, Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin will need to step up.

The Lions’ power running game with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs will be tough to stop up the middle, so the Cowboys will likely have to commit their linebackers - the healthy ones - to help stop the run.

That could sometimes leave receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams as well as tight end Sam LaPorta in single coverage. The Cowboys may need to pick and choose when they send linebackers to help, and avoid falling prey to the play-action.

This game is set to be a tough matchup for both sides. … with health obviously a key factor.
