One of the most historic locations for ESPN's 'College GameDay' over the years has been in Eugene, Oregon, home of the Ducks.

With the relationship that's been built between Lee Corso and The Duck mascot, plus the litany of high-level matchups we've seen take place in Autzen Stadium, it's no wonder that 'College GameDay' likes to set up shop in Eugene when they can.

They will be in the Pacific Northwest jewel this weekend ahead of the matchup between No. 3 Oregon and No. 2 Ohio State, but Rece Davis, the host of the show, has thrown out some fighting words to the Oregon faithful before things get rolling.

When talking to media members in Eugene on Friday, Davis said that Oregon no longer held the position of "best fanbase on the West Coast." After last week, that title belongs to the California Golden Bears.

“As far as the crowds, I’ve always said that Oregon, by and large, has been the standard bearer on the West Coast,” Davis said. “Cal might have taken the title last week. Now Oregon gets a chance to answer. So let’s see what they’ve got.”

For Oregon fans, those are fighting words, indeed.

While the Golden Bears hosted a great 'GameDay' a week ago against the Miami Hurricanes, far be it for the Ducks to allow an academic school like Cal to take over as the powerhouse of the West Coast when it comes to a College GameDay location.

This may have been just what the Oregon fanbase needed to get a fire lit under them, though. With the show starting at 6 a.m. on the West Coast, students will surely show up well-lubricated in the early hours of the morning and pack the Oregon campus, ready to reclaim their title.

After that, they get a chance to root for their Ducks in a must-see matchup against the Buckeyes. It could be a banner day in Eugene.
