Rece Davis Reveals His Favorite College GameDay Atmosphere Of All Time

ESPN's “College GameDay” host Rece Davis is in Eugene, Oregon, getting set for another show this weekend ahead of the Week 7 matchup between the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 3 Oregon Ducks.

Davis has been with ESPN since 1995, and in 2015, he replaced Chris Fowler as host of "College GameDay."

The show travels across the country each season and airs from about 15 universities. Fans standing behind the set always bring the energy, but some do more than others.

Davis always recognizes the ones that stand out because that's what makes the show what it is.

On Friday, in a video taken next to the set in Eugene, Davis declared his favorite "College GameDay" atmosphere of all time.

He didn't hesitate to say Washington State during the crew's visit to Pullman in 2018.

Davis cited Ol’ Crimson, the Washington State Cougars’ flag, as his reasoning. Since 2003, that flag has waved behind the “College GameDay” set at every show, regardless of location.

Tom Pounds, a Washington State University graduate, has kept the streak of over 300 straight "College GameDay" appearances alive to this day.

"I was thinking about all the times I've been to Eugene to either call games or to be here for 'College GameDay,'" Davis said. "And while we've had unbelievable atmospheres in the Pacific Northwest and on the West Coast, my favorite 'GameDay' of all time still is Washington State because of the quest and the crusade for 15 years of getting Old Crimson to the show and bringing the show to Pullman. That stands alone because of the backstory."

Davis, 58, graduated from the University of Alabama and launched his journalism career at a local station in Alabama before joining ESPN.

Kickoff between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
